How To Make A Watercolour Sketchbook Journal - Video Tutorial

Ok, this is my first attempt at making a how-to video, and it happened at about 11 last night, when I turned to Greg who was watching a movie on the sofa and said, "Hey, wanna come video me making one of these books?"  And so a video production was born.

Here's Part 1Part 2, and Part 3 on youtube.

Forgive the weird lighting and the 'where am I going with this again?" tempo of it, and go make a sketchbook!  I really hope you do.  Let me know if this makes sense, or if you have any questions.  And if it works for you, please let me know (and send me pics!)

I watched a bunch of videos online to figure out how to do this, but biggest credit goes to Teesha Moore.  Thanks Teesha.  And thanks Greg for turning off the movie you were watching and playing cameraman for me.

Thank you thank you for taking time to make these videos!! I love the simplicity of this! I like to paint even smaller so I may play with the size a little bit....or maybe I need to push myself into working bigger than I'm used to!

Enjoyed the video very much!! I'm off to experiment making a smaller one to fit in my fanny pack! I love the simpler way of doing this as opposed to the full blown books that I've seen. And since I can't find a sketchbook with "just the right paper", this is perfect! Thanks!

Oh, thank you so much for your tutorial. I saw one the other day using one sheet of watercolor paper, but it was a little bit larger. I love the one that you shared.

I am so excited to find your blog. I have always admired your artwork on flickr. Stop by my blog when you get a chance. You might enjoy fabric design on Spoonflower.

Thanks! I've been toying with the idea of making a watercolor journal myself. Your video is a great help!

Well it was just 7 and a half years ago you posted this 3-part demo on how to make this watercolour journal. I found, and started using your idea(s)about 4 years ago. I'm now on Journal #9 and ready to make the next "batch". I will be gifting one each to my two daughters who are most deserving of a special place to journal their special lives. I always give you and your blog credit for the journal design whenever I'm asked, and it has happened most times I'm out at about with (the latest version of) it.

I may be technologically advanced enough to send you a pic or two....but needed to send along my thanks now. And leave plenty of time for the technology event/challenge. Thank you and regards, mjohnson
